SatPak®
S1
The NEC S1 Satellite phone was released in
August 1994. The SatPak®
S1 was designed to make the system portable. These systems were used for
rentals and so as to enable remote users to perform their own set up. The
case was ABS plastic for reduced weight. The packaging also meant that
customers could easily relocate the unit.
SatPak®
WH
The Westinghouse Series 1000 Satellite phone
consisted of a Transceiver unit and an Antenna Electronics Unit. These
systems were designed for in vehicle use. The
SatPak® WH
was first produced in the same case as the NEC S1 later this was changed to
a specifically designed and built aluminium case. This case saved space and
weight.
The
final SatPak®
WH was a budget case designed for the mass market when the price of the
Westinghouse was reduced in price substantially. It was made of Steel to
cope with the harsh conditions and had an external antenna connector.
SatPak®
S2
SatPak® S2 was designed for the rental and corporate
market. The Case is fibreglass and has a pull- apart hinge system where the
top half can be totally removed to allow stowing in smaller locations and to
provide a mounting base for the mast antenna. there is a threaded section in
the lid that accepts the mast antenna mounting screw.
